Project Wind Energy Information Data Pool – WInD-Pool

The Wind Energy Information Data Pool (WInD Pool) is a joint experience and knowledge database that supports the wind energy sector in its business decisions with statistical analyses from a broad database and thus helps to reduce the levelised cost of energy in the long term. The key differences to other – mainly internal – data collections are the much larger database on the one hand and the comparability of the results on the other. Participating wind farm operators feed operating and maintenance data into the WInD pool and in return receive regular reporting on the performance of their turbines with a comparison (benchmark) to the overall performance. At the same time, a large amount of data is generated, which allows reliable performance and reliability analyses to be carried out for the development of a library of characteristic values. These characteristic values on operating and failure behaviour – especially of critical components – allow maintenance processes to be checked and improved with the aim of reducing costs. Operators therefore receive an extract from this parameter library relating to their systems.
